Step 1 Install Yoast SEO plug in

This should not come to you as surprise. I believe most of bloggers who use wordpress must have installed Yoast SEO plug in. After all it is the best On Page SEO improvement Plugin for WordPress. If not then install & activate Yoast SEO plugin. Yoast is one of the very useful wordpress breadcrumb plugin for beginners

After Activation, Go to Yoast in Dashboard, Then Click on advance setting and choose Breadcrumbs.

Then choose the default entries ( Works best for most of the website).

It is recommended to choose catagory as Taxonomy to show in breadcrumbs for post types.

In next few steps you would require to edit your theme shortcode. The following steps are guide to insert breadcrumbs in your theme.

This would require editing the codes of your theme. It is strongly advised to take proper backup before you step ahead.

Step 2 Open Theme Editor

In Order to Open them editor, Go to Appearance then click on editor. Then click on “Theme header” PHP file ( It will be on the right hand side of the dashboard).

Note- There are some other options as well. If you want to show breadcrumbs only on blog posts then you may choose to update only singly.php.

Editing header.php would display breadcrumbs in every page and post which is not a bad idea at all.

Step 3 Edit Theme code

Now click on header PHP to Open Theme Header file.  For the first timer the screen would look like this. You will have to scroll down to reach the bottom of the code.

Step 4 Add wordpress breadcrumbs shortcode at bottom.

Copy the following shortcode & add Breadcrumbs short code at the last. ( After the current codes) & update the file. Refer the image for clarity.

And at last. update the file.
